First Committee Meeting of the Past Pupils’ Association for 2026/2027 Held with Blessings and Renewed Commitment

The first Committee Meeting of the Past Pupils’ Association of Central College, Ibbagamuwa, for the 2026/2027 term was successfully held on 16th August 2026 at the P.M. Jayathilake Main Hall of the college.

The proceedings commenced with a Pirith chanting ceremony, seeking blessings for the newly appointed committee and the successful continuation of the Association’s activities. The spiritual beginning added great significance to this important occasion as the newly appointed committee members embarked on their responsibilities for the new term.

Following the Pirith ceremony, the committee members proceeded to the Jayathilake Statue, situated near the main hall. At this solemn occasion, all members took an oath pledging their commitment to protect, support, and serve their beloved Alma Mater as responsible past pupils.

Thereafter, the members gathered at the Home Science Section of the college, where morning tea was served. The first Committee Meeting of the 2026/2027 term was then formally commenced with the participation of the newly appointed office bearers and committee members.

A significant feature of this year’s committee is the participation of several new members, who have joined the committee for the first time. Their presence brings fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and renewed energy to the Association as it moves forward.

ICCIAN NIGHT 2026

One of the significant decisions taken at the meeting was to organize the ICCIAN NIGHT for the second time. Following the success and enthusiasm surrounding the previous event, the committee agreed to hold ICCIAN NIGHT 2026 as a special gathering of past pupils, providing an opportunity to strengthen friendships, renew old memories, and further build the bond among the past pupils of Central College, Ibbagamuwa.

The event is scheduled to be held on 19th December 2026 at the Epitome Hotel, Kurunegala. Further details regarding the event will be announced by the Past Pupils’ Association in due course.

Past Pupils’ Soft Ball Cricket Match

In addition to ICCIAN NIGHT, the committee also proposed organizing a Soft Ball Cricket Match for past pupils towards the end of September or the first week of October 2026.

The proposed cricket event is intended to provide a friendly and enjoyable platform for past pupils of different generations to come together, strengthen their friendships, and build greater unity and togetherness within the Past Pupils’ Association. It will also provide a valuable opportunity to bring together young and senior past pupils, creating stronger bonds across different generations of the Alma Mater.

Further details regarding the date, venue, and arrangements for the cricket match will be announced in due course.

The successful commencement of the new term reflects the strong commitment and dedication of the Past Pupils’ Association towards the development and wellbeing of Central College, Ibbagamuwa, while strengthening the bond between the college and its past pupils.

The Association looks forward to a productive and successful 2026/2027 term, working together with unity, dedication, and a shared commitment to the Alma Mater.
